Summary

In week 33 (August 10–16, 2020), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased, with a more pronounced rise among those aged 2–14 (+15%, or +1,254 visits) than among those under 2 (+4%, or +126 visits) and those aged 15–74 (+3%, or +1,414 visits). Activity remained stable among those aged 75 and older.

Over the past week, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 increased by 11% following a decline observed over the past three weeks. In total, 2,052 procedures were recorded in week 33 (vs. 1,857 procedures in week 32, or +195 procedures). This increase mainly concerns the 15–74 age group (+16%, or +229 cases). The share of total activity across all age groups remains stable at 3%. The number of cases is rising in Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur (269 vs. 168 cases in Week 32), Centre-Val-de-Loire (84 vs. 45 procedures in W32), in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (397 vs. 360 procedures in W32), Occitanie (109 vs. 75 procedures in W32), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (245 vs. 218 procedures in W32), Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (47 vs. 29 deeds in S32), and
Grand-Est (139 vs. 131 deeds). A decline is observed in the other regions, ranging from -25% in Brittany to -2% in Île-de-France. The regions of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Île-de-France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes account for the highest number of tests (19%, 16%, 13%, and 12% of tests recorded nationally, respectively).

Since the start of surveillance, 74,453 tests for suspected COVID-19 have been performed. Among other conditions, there has been an increase in cases involving insect bites (+6%, or +87 cases) across all age groups, allergies (+17%, or +72 cases), and chickenpox (+110%, or +22 cases) among those under 15,
dehydration (+51%, or +22 cases), fever without other symptoms (+9%, or +34 cases), asthma (+9%, or +21 cases), trauma (+7%, or +130 cases) among those aged 15–74, and heat-related illness (+65%, or +115 cases) among those aged 15 and older.

Finally, among the most common conditions, increases were also observed for upper respiratory tract infections (+12%) across all age groups, dermatological conditions (+52%) and stomatological conditions (+16%), diarrhea (+21%), and viral syndrome (+29%) in children.
