SOS Médecins National Newsletter, August 1, 2022
Key Points
In Week 30 (July 25–31, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined across all age groups.
After six weeks of increases, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have declined for the third consecutive week: a total of 4,342 procedures (vs. 5,599 in Week 29) were recorded across all age groups (a decrease of 22% vs. 27% in Week 29). This decline applies to all age groups. Nevertheless, these procedures remain the second most frequent across all age groups. At the regional level, SOS Médecins medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are declining in all regions.
Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 432,123 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Most other indicators are declining. Notable exceptions include a slight increase in procedures with small sample sizes for dermatology among children under 2 years old (+15%, or +14 procedures), as well as for conjunctivitis (+11%, or +41 procedures) and for trauma among 2- to 14-year-olds (+8%, or +26 procedures); among adults: for anxiety in those aged 45–64 (+10%, or +20 procedures) and for urinary tract infections (+7%, or +119 procedures) and low back pain/sciatica (+6%, or +155 procedures) in those aged 15–74.
