Key Points
In Week 08 (February 17–23, 2025), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations decreased among 2- to 14-year-olds (by 8% and 5%, respectively, or 4,919 visits and 277 hospitalizations) and remained stable compared to the previous week in other age groups.
Visits for influenza/flu-like illness continued to decline for the fourth consecutive week across all age groups (-28%, or 3,187 fewer visits). Visits related to other respiratory conditions were stable or declining. However, there was a slight increase in visits for whooping cough among children (19 visits in S08 vs. 6 visits in S07).
Regarding indicators related to acute gastrointestinal conditions, there has been an increase in visits for gastroenteritis among adults (+11%, or +174 visits) and children under 2 years of age (+16%, or +225 visits), and for vomiting among children (+6%, or +101 visits) and those aged 75 and older (+5%, or +16 visits).
Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits for conjunctivitis among those aged 15–74 (+15%, or +72 visits) and for chest pain among those aged 75 and older (+5%, or +87 visits).
