In Week 30 (July 25–31, 2022), emergency department visits and hospitalizations declined across all age groups (down 5%, or 18,568 visits, and down 5%, or 3,239 hospitalizations, for all ages).
After five weeks of increases and one week of stabilization, visits for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups have declined for the second consecutive week (5,228 vs. This decline applies to all age groups. The share of activity across all age groups is down (1.6% vs. 2.4% in Week 29), while the proportion of hospitalizations following a visit is stabilizing (36% vs. 35% in Week 29). At the regional level, numbers remain on the rise in Réunion (+29%, or +30 visits) and are declining in other regions.
Since monitoring began on February 24, 2020, 852,707 emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 have been recorded.
Most other indicators are declining. Notable increases include visits for abdominal pain among children under 2 years old (+14%, or 79 visits), for trauma among 2- to 14-year-olds (+7%, or +1,112 visits), for viral meningitis among those aged 15–74 (+88%, or +15 visits), and for suicide attempts among those aged 45–64 (+14%, or +47 visits, at levels typically observed in previous years).
