Key Points
In Week 14 (March 31–April 6, 2025), emergency department visits increased slightly across all age groups compared to the previous week (+5.2%, or +19,409 visits). Hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable across all age groups except among 2- to 14-year-olds (+5.7%, or +332 hospitalizations).
Across all age groups, compared to Week 13, there was an increase in emergency department visits for isolated fever (+8%, or +298 visits) and cough (+18%, or +266 visits), as well as for insect bites (+41%, or +70 visits) and COVID-19 (+20%, or +70 visits), among low numbers of cases.
Among those over 2 years of age, visits for allergies (+18%, or +347 visits), asthma (+26%, or +811 visits, with figures higher than in previous years for the same period), and trauma (+7%, or +6,417 visits) are on the rise.
Among children, there was an increase in visits for skin and subcutaneous infections (+13%, or +103 visits) and conjunctivitis (+12%, or +49 visits).
Among adults, there was an increase in visits for ENT conditions (+6%, or 183 more visits), as well as for dehydration (+11%, or 26 more visits).
