Key Points

• In Week 15 (April 7–13, 2025), emergency department visits decreased among children aged 2–14 (-9%, or 6,306 fewer visits) and remained stable in other age groups compared to the previous week. Hospitalizations following emergency room visits increased among children under 2 years of age (+8%, or +261 hospitalizations) and remained stable or decreased in all other age groups.

• Among children under 15 years of age, compared to Week 14, there was an increase in visits for gastroenteritis (+13%, or +584 visits) and chickenpox (+32%, or +65 visits). Among children under 2 years of age, there is also an increase in emergency department visits for asthma attacks (+6%, or +44 visits), cough (+13%, or +40 visits), urinary tract infections (+24%, or +59 visits), and dehydration (+22%, or +10 visits).

• Among adults, visits are on the rise for conjunctivitis (+9%, or +51 visits), asthma attacks (+11%, or +200 visits) among those aged 15–74, and for ENT conditions (+24%, or +31 visits) and suspected COVID-19 (+18%, or +26 visits), though in small numbers, among those aged 75 and older.

• Across all age groups, with the exception of children under 2 years of age, there has been an increase in emergency room visits for insect bites compared to Week 14 (+19%, or +449 visits).
