Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, January 28, 2020

Summary

Nationally, the increase in the number of deaths among adults aged 15–64 observed in weeks 51 and 52 of 2019 continued into week 1 of 2020 (December 16–January 5). Mortality appears to have returned to its usual range of fluctuation starting in week 2 of 2020.
Mortality among children and adults over 65 remains close to expected levels for this period (Figures 1–3).

These observations should be interpreted with caution, as the data are still unconsolidated due to the usual transmission delays. Their purpose is to describe trends in mortality, without linking them to any ongoing events.

According to data from electronic certification, 2,510 deaths were recorded in week 04 (January 20–26, 2020) (Figure 4).
