Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Update as of September 13, 2023.

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • Since the start of enhanced surveillance in the region, 246 cases of arboviral diseases—209 confirmed cases and 36 probable cases—have been investigated in Île-de-France, including 237 cases of dengue, 2 cases of chikungunya, 6 cases of Zika, and 1 case of dengue/chikungunya co-infection. All of these cases were imported. Forty-one hospitalizations for dengue and one for chikungunya were reported. No deaths were recorded.

  • The dengue cases were imported from the Caribbean (150), Latin America (36), Asia (35), and sub-Saharan Africa (16); the chikungunya cases from Mali and Senegal; the 6 Zika cases from Thailand; and the co-infection from India. Among the cases, 206 (84%) were potentially viremic in the Île-de-France region, and 102 (41.5%) resided in municipalities in the region infested by the “tiger mosquito” (Aedes albopictus).

High temperatures, heat wave

  • In Week 36, the Île-de-France region was under a yellow alert from September 5–7 and an orange alert from September 8–11. iCanicule indicators rose for emergency room visits (OSCOUR) and SOS Médecins calls compared to Week 35, but overall numbers remained low.

  • The Île-de-France region is under a green alert in week 37 as of the publication date of this epidemiological update.

COVID-19

  • Emergency room visits (OSCOUR) related to COVID-19 increased compared to previous weeks.

  • SOS Médecins calls continue to rise compared to previous weeks. The number of visits followed by hospitalizations increased slightly in Week 36 (163) compared to the previous week (131).

  • Cases, however, remain low.
