Bronchiolitis
Epidemic on the decline.
Bronchiolitis-related activity remains at a post-epidemic level in S07: 8.9% (vs. 6.8% in S-1) of emergency department visits; 2.3% (vs. 2.6%) of SOS Médecins calls. Activity continues to decline, now comparable to the epidemic decline phases of the two previous winters.
The rate of bronchiolitis hospitalizations among all coded hospitalizations decreased slightly (17%).
Increased circulation of RSV in community laboratories (8.0% in S07 vs. 4.4% in S-1) as well as in hospitals (5.7% in S07 vs. 3.8% in S-1).
Influenza
11th week of the epidemic.
Influenza-related activity continues to decline among emergency department visits in W07, with 4.2% of cases attributed to influenza (vs. 4.8% in W-1), as does the rate of influenza-related hospitalizations among all coded hospitalizations (2.9%). The number and proportion of flu-related visits among those under 15 decreased slightly but remain at high levels, with 355 cases and 8.8% of flu cases (vs. 388 and 9.5% in W-1).
Activity is also decreasing among SOS Médecins calls: 18.5% (vs. 23.4% in S-1) in S07. This decline also applies to those under 15 years of age.
Viral circulation remains at high levels in private laboratories (33.7% in Week 7 vs. 30.3% in Week 1) and in hospitals (14.3% in Week 7 vs. 14.5% in Week 1).
COVID-19
The SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to circulate at low levels in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, as in other regions. The proportion of cases handled by SOS Médecins and emergency departments for suspected COVID-19 remains low.
Since week 40-2024, 37 severe cases of COVID-19 (all ages) have been reported by the sentinel intensive care unit network.
Acute respiratory infections
Since week 40-2024 (September 30, 2024), 257 clusters of acute respiratory infections have been reported. The weekly number of reports peaked in Week 01-2025 with 37 clusters (23 of which were attributed exclusively to influenza). The number of reports has been declining since Week 01, though there was an increase in influenza reports in Week 07.
In total, 76 episodes of ARI were attributed exclusively to COVID-19 and 105 episodes were attributed exclusively to influenza, the majority of which occurred between weeks S52 and S04. Seven episodes were attributed exclusively to RSV.
Since week 40-2024, 16 episodes of COVID-19/influenza co-infection have been reported, and 10 episodes of influenza/RSV co-infection since S51. One COVID-19/RSV co-infection was reported in S01, and three COVID-19/influenza/RSV co-infections were reported in S42, S01, and S02.
