Cases of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) Virus Infection - Guidelines for Healthcare Professionals
FHCC is a viral infection that can cause fever, chills, and digestive problems in humans, and in rare cases, severe forms of the disease involving uncontrolled bleeding (hemorrhagic symptoms).
No human infections have been reported in France to date. However, the risk of transmission has now been demonstrated, as Hyalomma ticks infected with the virus are present in southern France.
In 2024, the High Council for Public Health (HCSP) and the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) issued recommendations regarding the medical management and prevention of FHCC, both for the general public and for groups of people who may be at higher risk of infection, particularly during their professional activities.
Santé publique France provides healthcare professionals who may encounter this situation with guidelines on how to proceed in the event of suspected FHCC virus infection, as well as two associated investigative questionnaires.
