Cases of urogenital schistosomiasis in Southern Corsica
Since its detection in 2014 in the Cavu River in Southern Corsica, surveillance of indigenous urogenital schistosomiasis has identified:

Fall 2015: a new probable case of urogenital schistosomiasis linked to swimming in the same river during the summer of 2015,
Since 2016: nine new cases of urogenital schistosomiasis linked to swimming in the Cavu and/or Solenzara rivers have been reported to Santé publique France:
two probable cases serologically diagnosed in March 2016 in the same family (swimming in August 2015 in the Cavu);
two cases were confirmed in a second family following the detection of schistosome eggs in the urinary tract in February 2017 (swimming in August 2015 and August 2016 in the Cavu);
two confirmed cases reported in September 2017, in a group of 7 people (swimming in July 2016 and 2017 in the Cavu);
one confirmed case diagnosed in mid-February 2018 in a child (who tested negative in 2014; this child swam in the Cavu in 2015, 2016, and 2017 and in the Solenzara River in 2015). Screening of family members has so far identified another case based on a positive serological test;
