Key Points

COVID-19

  • In Week 49 of 2022, the four SOS Médecins associations in the region (Nîmes, Montpellier, Perpignan, and Toulouse) recorded 151 cases of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 (or 380 cases per 10,000 consultations), a stable number compared to Week 48 (147 cases, 358 cases per 10,000 consultations).

  • Weekly COVID-19 activity in emergency departments was on the rise at the regional level, with 630 visits for suspected COVID-19 in week 49—equivalent to 204 per 10,000 consultations—compared to 511 suspected cases, or 164 per 10,000 consultations, the previous week.

  • The R value estimated from regional data from the Oscour® network through 12/10/2022 was 1.31 (1.21–1.42), stable compared to the previous week.

Bronchiolitis

  • Oscour® Network: visits to emergency departments and hospitalizations following a visit for a diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were decreasing compared to the previous week.

  • SOS Médecins: procedures for the diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were decreasing compared to previous weeks.

Flu

  • Oscour® Network: visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were on the rise compared to the previous week. This trend was observed across all departments in the region.

  • SOS Médecins: Procedures for the diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness across all age groups were on the rise compared to the previous week.

  • Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was 290/100,000 [199;381], an increase compared to the previous week (233/100,000).

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • Oscour® Network: Gastroenteritis activity was low in week 49 of 2022. Consultations for all ages for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were stable compared to the previous week.

  • SOS Médecins in the region: Gastroenteritis activity was low in week 49 of 2022. Procedures for all ages for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were stable compared to the previous week.

  • Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 62 per 100,000 [22; 102], stable compared to the previous week (67 per 100,000).
