HIV and Bacterial STIs in the Île-de-France Region. 2024 Report.

HIV infection

  • Comprehensiveness of diagnostic testing and participation in LaboVIH: 83% of laboratories participated in LaboVIH, but the comprehensiveness of diagnostic testing is estimated at only 62%

  • HIV testing: The increase in HIV testing that began in 2020 continued

    • 103.2 tests per 1,000 residents at least once a year

    • This rate was highest in Paris (140.8) and lowest in Seine-et-Marne (85.6)

    • Women aged 25–49 remained the most frequently tested

  • HIV Diagnosis: The number of new HIV diagnoses continued to decline at the regional level

    • The rate of confirmed positive HIV serology tests per 1,000 tests performed stood at 2.5 per 1,000 at the regional level, down since 2015, but it was rising in Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne

    • At the regional level, the incidence among heterosexuals born in France increased moderately for the first time, while it appeared to stabilize among MSM born in France or abroad

    • The incidence among MSM born in France fell sharply in Yvelines, stabilized in Paris, and increased in Val-de-Marne, and more moderately in Val-d’Oise

    • The incidence among MSM born abroad increased moderately in Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Seine-Saint-Denis, and Val-de-Marne, but remained stable across the Île-de-France region

    • The incidence among heterosexuals born abroad increased in Essonne

    • The 95-95-95 cascade targets have not yet been met

Bacterial STIs: Chlamydia trachomatis, gonorrhea, and syphilis

  • Surveillance participation: 73% of Cegidds in the Île-de-France region participated in the SurCeGIDD surveillance in 2024, down from 2023 and with significant disparities across departments

  • Screening

    • Screening for these three bacterial STIs increased in Île-de-France

    • It remained consistently higher in Paris for all STIs considered

  • Diagnosis

    • The positive diagnosis rate per 100,000 inhabitants varied regionally by age group, pathogen, and department but remained highest in Paris

    • The diagnosis rate per 100,000 inhabitants for gonorrhea or syphilis was ten times higher than that reported outside the Île-de-France region
