Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • 3rd week of the outbreak

  • For this 3rd week of the epidemic, the number of emergency room visits for bronchiolitis continues to rise to 13% in S50 (vs. 12% in S-1) and is decreasing for SOS Médecins to 5% (vs. 7% in S-1).

  • Bronchiolitis accounts for 30% of all coded hospitalizations among children under 2 years of age (approximately 50 hospitalizations), a figure that has been rising for the past two weeks.

Influenza

  • 2nd week of the epidemic

  • The flu epidemic (which began in Week 48 in the Île-de-France region) affected the Yonne and Côte-d’Or departments in Week 49. It is spreading to other departments, confirming the second week of the epidemic in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, with: 1.3% of flu cases among emergency department visits (vs. 0.6% in Week 1); 12.1% among SOS Médecins calls (vs. 7.0% in Week 1); 130 cases per 100,000 inhabitants according to the Sentinelles network (vs. 100 in Week 1).

Clusters of acute respiratory infections

  • Since September 30, 2024, 93 clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) have been reported. The number of new clusters has been low since week 42 (mid-October; Figure 7A), lower than that recorded during the same period last year.

COVID-19

  • The SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to circulate at low levels in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, as in other regions. The proportion of cases handled by SOS Médecins and emergency departments for suspected COVID-19 remains low.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Gastroenteritis is circulating in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté at a low level for SOS Médecins and a moderate level for the emergency network in S49, comparable to the two previous seasons.
