Survival of People with Cancer in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 – Testicular Cancer, Non-Seminomatous Germ Cell Tumors, and Mixed Tumors

In France, the estimated number of new cases of non-seminomatous and mixed germ cell tumors of the testis in 2018 was 1,042. The distribution of histological types varies with age, with non-seminomatous germ cell tumors accounting for 60% of cases in men under 30 and 10% in men over 75. Key points: A cancer primarily affecting young men, with a favorable prognosis and a 5-year standardized net survival rate of 88% following a diagnosis made between 2010 and 2015; 5-year net survival decreases with age at diagnosis (97% at age 20 and 88% at age 50); Little change since the 1990s, with curative treatment having been the standard for nearly 30 years and a 10-year net survival rate of 90% over the 1990–2015 period.
