Survival of Cancer Patients in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 – Acute Promyelocytic Myeloid Leukemia

In France, in 2018, the estimated number of new cases of promyelocytic acute myeloid leukemia was 228, including 146 in men and 82 in women. Key points: Standardized net survival of 74% at 1 year and 67% at 5 years for individuals diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; Difference in net survival by age at diagnosis as early as 1 year of follow-up: ranging from 97% at age 20 to 58% at age 80; Net survival at 5 years exceeds 92% among individuals diagnosed before age 50; Early excess mortality is more pronounced among individuals aged 70 and 80 at diagnosis; Net survival stabilizes after 1 year among individuals diagnosed before age 60 and after 3 years for older age groups.
