  • As of November 12, 2024, 128 PCR-confirmed cases of leptospirosis have been reported since January 1, 2024 (57 biologically confirmed cases in 2023).

  • The epidemic peaked in March (week 11). Since week 20, reported cases have been sporadic, confirming the end of the seasonal leptospirosis epidemic.

  • The incidence rate for the period is 38.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

  • A particularly brief rainy season from November 2022 to April 2023, with a precipitation deficit unprecedented since 1997, impacted the dynamics of the 2023 epidemic, resulting in a low number of cases.

  • Leptospirosis has been a notifiable disease since August 24, 2023. Only 14% of biologically confirmed cases were reported through the mandatory reporting system.
