Rena-VHC/B Laboratory Network, 2008–2010: Background, Objectives, and Surveillance Partners
Background
The network, which relied on volunteer clinical laboratories, was expanded to include hepatitis B surveillance in 2008. It was discontinued in 2010 due to low representativeness.
Objective
The Rena-VHC/B laboratory network had two objectives:
to study trends in hepatitis C and hepatitis B screening activity,
to monitor changes in the characteristics of individuals testing positive for HCV or with a positive hepatitis B serological marker (HBsAg).
Due to the low representativeness of data from the Rena-VHC/B network, trends in hepatitis B and C screening activity will henceforth be based on:
the national LaboHep survey, which will be conducted every 3 years using a random sample of laboratories
analysis of health insurance reimbursement data
activity data from anonymous and free screening clinics (CDAG)
Surveillance partners
Rena-VHC/B was a network of volunteer laboratories, both hospital-based and private, located throughout France.
