Fall Prevention for Older Adults Living at Home: A Guide to Best Practices.
This guideline, developed by a French-speaking working group composed of professionals working in the field of everyday accident prevention or health promotion in France, Belgium, Quebec, and Switzerland, focuses on fall prevention among people aged 65 and older living at home. Intended for professionals in the medical-social field (doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, home health aides, program managers, vocational training coordinators, etc.), its goal is to facilitate the identification of individuals at risk of falling and the implementation of preventive measures. The recommendations are based on a wealth of scientific literature analyzed in terms of methodological quality and level of scientific evidence. The book is structured around a decision tree and summary tables that allow the reader to quickly select an appropriate approach. These tables link to a more detailed section where professionals can learn more about a specific risk factor, screening tool, or intervention. A detailed description of the tools and checklists is available at the end of the book, along with a glossary and bibliography.
