Outbreaks of foodborne illness in France in 1999 and 2000

The mandatory reporting (DO) of outbreaks of foodborne illness (TIAC) enables public health inspectors from the Departmental Directorates of Health and Social Affairs (DDASS) and veterinary inspectors from the Directorates of Veterinary Services (DSV) to conduct an epidemiological and veterinary investigation aimed at identifying the foods responsible and the contributing factors in order to take specific measures to prevent recurrence. All TIACs must be reported to the departmental health authority (Ddass or DSV). This reporting is mandatory for any physician or biologist who has confirmed the occurrence of such an outbreak, as well as for the primary occupant, head of household, or manager of the premises where the patients are located.
