Smoking and Ectopic Pregnancy

Smoking among women is a risk factor that has long been studied in the field of fertility epidemiology. This article reviews the association between smoking among women and ectopic pregnancy (EP). In France, there are 2 EP cases per 100 births, which corresponds to 15,000 EP cases per year. The authors analyze the results of four case-control studies they have conducted since 1988. All include detailed information on tobacco use at the time of conception and on the main risk factors for ectopic pregnancy. (adapted from the text).
