Key Points
In week 35 (August 26–September 1, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among 2- to 14-year-olds (+14%, or +1,861 visits) and remained stable in other age groups.
In this final week before the start of the school year, there was an increase in cases involving respiratory conditions such as asthma attacks among 2- to 14-year-olds and 15- to 74-year-olds (+18% and +10%, or +34 and +41 cases), bronchitis among 2- to 14-year-olds and adults (+13% and +8%, or +55 and +143 cases), suspected COVID-19 infection among those aged 75 and older (+28%, or +30 cases), as well as cases of upper respiratory tract conditions among children under 15 (+15%, or +985 cases).
Whooping cough, after a week of decline across all age groups, is on the rise again among children under 2 and adults (+17% and +24%, or +4 and +55 procedures).
Outside of respiratory conditions, there was an increase in procedures:
in children for allergies (+22%, or +80 visits), isolated fever (+9%, or +55 visits) and among 2- to 14-year-olds for skin conditions and impetigo (+32% and +21%, or +82 and +79 visits), gastroenteritis (+19%, or +186 visits), and trauma (+22%, or +96 visits);
among adults for malaise (+32%, or +54 visits) and among those aged 75 and older for dehydration (+24%, or +12 visits).
