Key Points

In Week 21 (May 23–29, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased (+9% across all age groups, totaling 4,992 procedures), particularly among children under 2 and adults aged 75 and older (approximately +20%).

Medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups have continued to decline for the past 8 weeks. In total, 581 procedures (vs. 660 procedures in Week 20) were recorded across all age groups (a decrease of 12% vs. 20% in Week 20). This decline applies to all age groups, with the exception of those aged 75 and older (smaller population). At the regional level, SOS Médecins medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are down, with the exception of Occitanie (+78%, or +14 procedures), Pays de la Loire (+41%, or +13 procedures), Grand-Est (+30%, or +8 procedures), Île-de-France (+20%, or +23 visits), and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+9%, or +1 visit). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 345,735 medical visits for suspected COVID-19 have been conducted.

Among other indicators, the following are observed:

  • All ages: an increase in procedures for asthma attacks (+14%, or +105 procedures), particularly among children under 2 and those aged 15–74, for ENT and stomatological conditions (+20% to +24%), and for chickenpox (+58%, or +362 procedures). Other seasonal or weather-related indicators are down or stable: allergies (-26% among children, -15% among adults), heatstroke (-70%), insect bites (stable), and trauma (-7%).

  • Among children: an increase in procedures for infectious conjunctivitis (+7%) and respiratory conditions (bronchitis +24%, bronchiolitis +35% in children under 2 years old).

  • Among adults: an increase in cases of urinary tract infections (+26%) and low back pain (+12%).
