Key Points
In Week 17 (April 25–May 1, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined across all age groups (-12%, or 7,541 fewer procedures), with the sharpest drop among children (-21%).
Medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are down across all age groups for the fourth consecutive week. In total, 914 procedures (vs. 1,361 procedures in Week 16) were recorded across all age groups (a decrease of 33% vs. 18% in Week 16). At the regional level, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are down in all regions, with the exception of the Pays de la Loire region (stable). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 342,769 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other indicators, the following trends are observed across all age groups:
a sharp decline in procedures for influenza/flu-like illness (-50% across all ages, or -2,788 procedures), which nevertheless remain at a high level for the season;
an increase in procedures for trauma (+12% across all ages, or +243 procedures) and insect bites (+26% across all ages, or +52 procedures), which is typical for this time of year.
Visits for chickenpox are down among children (-19%, or 140 fewer visits) but remain at higher levels than in previous years (children and adults).
