SOS Médecins National Newsletter, June 24, 2024
Key Points
In Week 25 (June 17–23, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups, with the exception of those aged 75 and older, where there was a slight increase (+6%, or +326 visits).
Procedures for suspected COVID-19 continued to rise (+37% in Week 25 vs. +29% in Week 24), increasing from 1,952 in Week 24 to 2,667 procedures in Week 25. The increase was more pronounced among children than among adults (respectively, +56% and +34%, or +106 and +607 procedures). The activity rate is higher than in 2023 and 2021 during the same period. Whooping cough has continued to rise across all age groups since Week 10. In Week 25, it increased among those aged 1–14 (+17 cases) and those aged 65 and older (+5 cases), decreased among those aged 15–64 (-14 cases), and remained stable among those under one year of age.
Among those aged 75 and older, most indicators show an increase (except for bronchitis and ENT conditions, which are down, as well as trauma and falls, which are stable). The most significant increases in this age group were observed for suspected COVID-19 (+23%), deterioration in general health, and deaths (respectively +18% and +13%, or +50 and +37 cases). Among children, most indicators are down. However, there was an increase in cases among 2- to 14-year-olds for viral syndrome (+14%, or 68 cases).
Regarding mental health, procedures for anxiety and depressive states are slightly up among adults (up 6%, or 72 procedures, and up 13%, or 33 procedures, respectively), remaining at levels similar to previous years.
