SOS Médecins National Newsletter, June 10, 2024
Key Points
In Week 23 (June 3–10, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups.
Seasonal spring indicators are on the rise across all age groups but remain comparable to the previous three years. This primarily concerns cases related to allergies (+42%, or +941 cases), as well as, to a lesser extent, cases involving asthma attacks (+11%) and isolated fever (+13%).
Procedures for suspected COVID-19 are up 51%, rising from 995 to 1,507 procedures. All age groups are affected, but particularly those over 75 (+85%, or from 66 to 122 procedures) and those under 2 (+140%, or from 10 to 24 procedures). The level is higher than in 2023 and 2021 among adults. Among other respiratory indicators, we note an increase in cases of influenza/influenza-like illness among those under 15 years of age (+16%) and higher than in previous years.
Cases of pneumonia remain at levels slightly higher than in previous years and are stable compared to last week.
Procedures for gastroenteritis (-10%) and chickenpox (-23%) are down across all age groups.
Finally, mental health indicators are on the rise among those aged 65 and older but remain at levels similar to previous years (+16%, or +26 cases for anxiety, and +133%, or from 18 to 42 cases for depressive episodes).
