SOS Médecins National Newsletter, June 10, 2024

Key Points

  • In Week 23 (June 3–10, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups.

  • Seasonal spring indicators are on the rise across all age groups but remain comparable to the previous three years. This primarily concerns cases related to allergies (+42%, or +941 cases), as well as, to a lesser extent, cases involving asthma attacks (+11%) and isolated fever (+13%).

  • Procedures for suspected COVID-19 are up 51%, rising from 995 to 1,507 procedures. All age groups are affected, but particularly those over 75 (+85%, or from 66 to 122 procedures) and those under 2 (+140%, or from 10 to 24 procedures). The level is higher than in 2023 and 2021 among adults. Among other respiratory indicators, we note an increase in cases of influenza/influenza-like illness among those under 15 years of age (+16%) and higher than in previous years.

  • Cases of pneumonia remain at levels slightly higher than in previous years and are stable compared to last week.

  • Procedures for gastroenteritis (-10%) and chickenpox (-23%) are down across all age groups.

  • Finally, mental health indicators are on the rise among those aged 65 and older but remain at levels similar to previous years (+16%, or +26 cases for anxiety, and +133%, or from 18 to 42 cases for depressive episodes).
