Key Points
In Week 52 (December 22–28, 2025), the first week of the end-of-year school break, activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among those aged 75 and older (+24%, or +1,702 visits) as well as among children under 2 years old (+14%, or +1,197 visits), for whom patient numbers were higher than in previous years. Activity was down among those aged 2–14 (-20%, or -7,016 cases) and stable among those aged 15–74.
Respiratory indicators were on the rise among children under 2 and adults, particularly those aged 75 and older, at levels comparable to previous years during the same period. There was thus an increase in procedures for:
upper respiratory tract conditions among children under 2 years of age (+17%, or +763 procedures) and among adults, particularly those aged 75 and older (+29%, or +158 procedures);
influenza/flu-like illness among children under 2 years of age (+26%, or +236 procedures) and among adults, particularly those aged 75 and older (+70%, or +339 procedures);
acute bronchitis in children under 2 years of age (+19%, or +66 cases) and in adults (+28%, or +1,172 cases);
pneumonia in children under 2 years of age (+56%, or +40 cases) and in adults (+37%, or +505 cases);
bronchiolitis in children under 1 year of age (+22%, or +76 cases);
cough in children under 2 years of age (+14%, or +318 cases) and in adults, particularly those aged 75 and older (+43%, or +491 cases);
asthma attacks among adults, particularly those aged 75 and older (+41%, or +43 cases).
Among those aged 75 and older, there was also an increase in procedures for gastroenteritis (+65%, or +91 procedures), urinary tract infections (+35%, or +73 procedures), deterioration in general health (+13%, or +34 procedures), and deaths (+25%, or +85 procedures), at levels comparable to previous years.
Finally, there was an increase in cases for:
isolated fever in children under 2 years of age (+17%, or 30 visits) and those aged 75 and older (+36%, or 20 visits);
infectious conjunctivitis in children (+10%, or +78 cases), those aged 15–74 (+11%, or +44 cases), and those aged 75 and older (39 cases vs. 9 cases in week 51);
chickenpox among children, particularly those under 2 years of age (+34%, or +34 cases);
dental and ENT conditions among 2- to 14-year-olds (+10%, or +28 procedures) and 15- to 74-year-olds (+7%, or +84 procedures).
