Key Points
In Week 51 (December 16–22, 2024), SOS Médecins’ activity increased compared to the previous week among children aged 2–14 (+6%, or +1,797 visits) and among adults aged 15–64 (+6%, or +3,400 visits) and those aged 75 and older (+10%, or +615 visits). It remains stable among children under 2 years of age.
This increase in activity primarily concerns respiratory indicators: cases of influenza/influenza-like illness continue to rise sharply across all age groups (+51%, or +5,219 cases). There was also an increase compared to the previous week in cases of acute bronchitis (+8.5%, or +166 cases among children and +18%, or +695 cases among adults), pneumonia (+19%, or +84 cases among children and +26%, or +295 cases among adults), cough (+8%, or +554 cases among 2- to 14-year-olds and +19%, or +1,736 cases among adults) and, to a lesser extent, for suspected COVID-19 (+25%, or +15 cases among children and +17%, or +90 cases among adults), upper respiratory tract conditions in adults (+6%, or 899 more visits) and asthma attacks in those aged 15–74 (+8%, or 60 more visits).
Among children under 2 years of age, after two weeks of stabilization in case numbers, the number of cases of bronchiolitis is decreasing (-8%, or -52 cases).
Among other indicators, there was an increase compared to the previous week in procedures:
Among children, for viral syndrome (+24%, or +166 cases) and for isolated fever (+37%, or +53 cases) in those under 2 years of age;
Among children aged 2–14 for gastroenteritis (+14.5%, or +259 cases);
Among those aged 75 and older for urinary tract infection (+23%, or +38 visits) and falls (+27%, or +37 visits).
