Key Points

In Week 33 (August 15–21, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined among children (down 8%, or 1,224 procedures) and people aged 75 and older (down 7%, or 475 procedures) and remained stable among those aged 15–64.

Medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have declined for the sixth consecutive week: a total of 2,413 procedures (vs. 2,694 procedures in Week 32) were recorded (a 10% decrease in Week 33 vs. a 21% decrease in Week 32). This decline applies to all age groups. These procedures remain in 7th place among the most frequent procedures across all age groups. At the regional level, SOS Médecins medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are declining or stable in most regions. Among smaller patient populations, an increase is observed in Martinique (+11%, or +7 cases) and Pays de la Loire (+7%, or +6 cases). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 441,157 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

Most other indicators are stable or declining. Among adults, there is a slight increase in procedures for asthma among those aged 15 and older (+28%, or 81 procedures) and for gastroenteritis (+11%, or 212 procedures) and low back pain/sciatica (+10%, or 236 procedures) among those aged 15–74. There was also an increase in procedures for anxiety (+17%, or 159 procedures, among those aged 15 and older) and depressive disorders (+28%, or 28 procedures), which were more pronounced among those aged 65 and older (+36%, or 63 procedures, and +46%, or 16 procedures, respectively).
