SOS Médecins National Newsletter, August 15, 2022
Key Points
In Week 32 (August 8–14, 2022), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups.
Medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have declined for the fifth consecutive week: a total of 2,704 procedures (vs. 3,419 in Week 31) were recorded across all age groups (a 21% decrease in Week 32 vs. a 22% decrease in Week 31). This decline applies to all age groups, with the exception of children under 2 years of age, for whom the numbers remain stable. These procedures nevertheless rank sixth among the most frequent procedures across all age groups. At the regional level, SOS Médecins medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are down in all regions, with the exception of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+21%, or +13 procedures).
Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 439,093 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other indicators, the following stand out:
an increase in procedures for trauma among children (+15%, or +54 procedures) and adults aged 75 and older (+5%, or +128 procedures), as well as for dental and ENT conditions (+8% across all ages, or +155 procedures);
