Summary

In week 35 (August 27 to September 2), total emergency department activity and hospitalizations following visits remained stable across all age groups.

Non-specific indicators were stable or declining among both adults and children, with the exception of asthma, for which there was a slight increase in visits among children aged 2–14 (+20%, or +99 visits).

Seasonal conditions are all declining among both adults and children. However, there was an increase in visits for allergies among children under 15 years of age (+13%, or +98 visits). In terms of total activity, the proportion of visits associated with these conditions is comparable to previous years, with the exception of visits for insect bites and allergies, which were slightly higher.

Among the most common conditions, there was a slight increase in visits for abdominal pain among children under 15 (+8%, or +126 visits) and for urinary tract infections among children under 2 (+17%, or +44 visits).
