Key Points

• In week 35 (August 25–31, 2025), compared to the previous week, the number of emergency department visits and the number of hospitalizations following those visits remained stable across all age groups.

• Among respiratory indicators, there was an increase in visits for:

  • cough among 2- to 14-year-olds (+10%, or +13 visits)

  • asthma among children under 15 (+12%, or +78 visits)

  • suspected COVID-19 infection, with numbers comparable to previous years, among those under 15 years of age (+20%, or +48 visits), and among those aged 15–74 (+12%, or 54 visits)

  • shortness of breath and respiratory failure among those aged 75 and older (+7%, or +112 visits)

• Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits for foreign bodies (+18%, or +126 visits) among those under 15 years of age. There was also an increase in visits for isolated fever (+7%, or 104 more visits) and various skin conditions (+16%, or 36 more visits) among children under 2 years of age, and for specific abdominal pain among children aged 2–14 (+10%, or 93 more visits).
