Summary

  • During week 43 (October 23–29, 2017), the first week of the All Saints’ Day school break, all-cause activity and hospitalizations following a visit were sharply down among children aged 2–14 (–27% and –21%, respectively). This decline was less pronounced among those aged 15–74 (–5% and –2%, respectively), while in other age groups, a slight increase was observed (+5% and +8%, respectively) among children under 2 and stability among those aged 75 and older.

  • Seasonal conditions are declining or stable among children aged 2–14 and adults of all ages, with the exception of visits for conjunctivitis (+7%, or +50 visits), which continue to rise among adults. Among children under 2 years of age, there was an increase in visits for bronchiolitis (+27%, or +413 visits), allergies (+24%, or +35 visits), asthma (+21%, or +104 visits), and bronchitis (+17%, or +28 visits).

  • Excluding seasonal conditions, the most common conditions are either decreasing or stable among children aged 2–14 and adults over 15. The only notable increases are in visits for pneumonia (+18%) among children under 2 and for abdominal pain among children under 2 and adults aged 75 or older.
