Summary
In week 43 (October 22–28), total activity and hospitalizations following emergency department visits declined among children aged 2–14 years (–29%, or –19,762 visits, and –17%, or –817 hospitalizations) and, to a lesser extent, among adults aged 15–74 years (–8% and –3%, respectively). They remained stable among children under 2 years of age and adults aged 75 and older.
Analysis of non-specific and seasonal indicators for the past week shows: - A continued increase in respiratory conditions among children under 2 years of age (ENT conditions +5%, bronchiolitis +11%, pneumonia +19%, bronchitis +17%), with activity levels following the trend observed in the previous two years, - An increase in non-specific conditions among children under 2 years of age, with an increase in visits for isolated fever (+5%), malaise (+7%), as well as for infectious conjunctivitis (+50%), allergies (+8%), and burns (+30%), - An increase in visits for asthma (+19%) and vomiting (+8%) among those aged 75 and older.
