Summary
In week 44 (October 29–November 4), which included a holiday, total activity and hospitalizations following emergency room visits rose moderately among children under 2 years of age (up 2%, or 498 visits, and up 3%, or 80 hospitalizations) and adults over 75 years of age (respectively +2% or +1,074 visits and +2% or +543 hospitalizations), remained stable among those aged 15–74, and decreased among those aged 2–14.
Seasonal indicators are on the rise, primarily respiratory conditions in adults: influenza/flu-like illness (+46%, or +92 visits), bronchitis (+10%, or +111 visits), pneumonia (+7%, or +197 visits), and ENT infections (+8%, or +247 visits).
Also notable is the increase in visits for bronchiolitis (+17%, or +215 visits) among children under 2, for gastroenteritis among those aged 2–14 (+9%, or +108 visits) and those over 15 (+12%, or +138 visits), and for infectious conjunctivitis (+14% or +90 visits) among those over 15 years of age.
Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in visits for urinary tract infections in children under 2 years of age (+17%, or +39 visits) and adults (+5%, or +205 visits), and for burns (+16%, or +37 visits) in children under 2 years of age.
