Key Points

  • In Week 21 (May 20–26, 2024), emergency room visits and hospitalizations following emergency room visits remained stable across all age groups.

  • Most indicators are stable or declining. Among the increases, we note:

    • among children and adults, visits by those aged 2–14 and 15–74 for infectious conjunctivitis (up 24% and 15%, respectively, or 68 and 85 visits), asthma attacks (up 28% and 5%, respectively, or 345 and 66 visits) as well as for ENT conditions among those aged 2–14 and 75 and older (up 14% and 18%, respectively, or 566 and 23 visits);

    • among children, visits for allergies in those under 15 (+9%, or +75 visits), malaise in those under 2 (+13%, or +23 visits), and trauma in those aged 2–14 (+5%, or +1,234 visits);

    • among adults aged 15–74, visits for isolated fever (+9%, or +64 visits).

  • Visits for suspected COVID-19 continued to rise for the sixth consecutive week (575 vs. 427 visits in S20, or +35% across all ages) but remain at a lower level than in previous years.

  • Visits for measles across all age groups continued to decline for the fourth week.
