Key Points
In Week 21 (May 20–26, 2024), emergency room visits and hospitalizations following emergency room visits remained stable across all age groups.
Most indicators are stable or declining. Among the increases, we note:
among children and adults, visits by those aged 2–14 and 15–74 for infectious conjunctivitis (up 24% and 15%, respectively, or 68 and 85 visits), asthma attacks (up 28% and 5%, respectively, or 345 and 66 visits) as well as for ENT conditions among those aged 2–14 and 75 and older (up 14% and 18%, respectively, or 566 and 23 visits);
among children, visits for allergies in those under 15 (+9%, or +75 visits), malaise in those under 2 (+13%, or +23 visits), and trauma in those aged 2–14 (+5%, or +1,234 visits);
among adults aged 15–74, visits for isolated fever (+9%, or +64 visits).
Visits for suspected COVID-19 continued to rise for the sixth consecutive week (575 vs. 427 visits in S20, or +35% across all ages) but remain at a lower level than in previous years.
Visits for measles across all age groups continued to decline for the fourth week.
