Key Points
In Week 19 (May 6–12, 2024), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable across all age groups.
An increase in visits was noted across all age groups for trauma (+9%) and allergies (+9%). Visits for allergies have been higher than in previous years among those under 15 since the beginning of the year.
Among those under 15, visits for viral meningitis (+40%, or +17 visits) and isolated fever (+11%) are on the rise. Visits for conjunctivitis are increasing only among those aged 15–74 (+15%).
Visits for suspected COVID-19 are increasing among those under 15 (+20%, or +8 visits) and among those 15 and older (+28%, or +71 visits). The increase is most pronounced among those 75 and older (+46%, or +48 visits). This upward trend has been observed for several weeks.
Visits for pneumonia are down slightly but remain higher than in previous years across all age groups. Visits for influenza/flu-like illness are down (-11%) across all age groups.
The number of visits for measles across all age groups has remained stable over the past three weeks, averaging 21 cases per week.
