Summary
In Week 22 (May 28–June 3), emergency room visits and hospitalizations from all causes remained stable among children under 2 years of age and among adults, but rose slightly among children aged 2–14 years (+5.3%, or +3,919 visits, and +4%, or +222 hospitalizations).
Emergency room visits are stable or declining for most seasonal conditions. However, there was an increase in visits for insect bites across all age groups (+10%, +157 visits), allergies among adults aged 15–74 (+5.8%, +100 visits), and chickenpox among children (+25%, +112 visits). Activity related to seasonal conditions is generally comparable to that of the past two years. Additionally, a slight increase in visits for measles among adults is noted (+4 cases).
Among non-specific indicators, there was an increase in visits for isolated fever in children under 2 years of age (+6.3%, or +90 visits), for malaise in both children (+28%, or +190 visits) and adults (+6%, or +571 visits), as well as for asthma in adults aged 15–74 (+13.6%, or +176 visits).
Among the most common conditions, we note an increase in visits for abdominal pain among children aged 2–14 (+10.6%, or +264 visits) and for neurological problems, primarily headaches and migraines (+27%, or +210 visits). An increase was also noted among adults aged 15–74 for anxiety disorders (+5.7%, or +185 visits).
