Summary
In Week 24 (June 11–17), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained generally stable across all age groups.
Among children, among visits related to seasonal illnesses, there was an increase in chickenpox (+19%), allergies (+6% among 2- to 14-year-olds), and viral meningitis (+60% among 2- to 14-year-olds). Among adults, the increase in visits was seen for viral meningitis (+5% among those aged 15–74) and allergies (+26% among those aged 75 and older). Visits across all age groups for hyperthermia and heatstroke were down compared to the same period last year; these visits were low in both absolute numbers and proportion.
