Summary

In Week 29 (July 16–22), emergency room visits and hospitalizations were down slightly among children (–4%, or 2,962 fewer visits, and –5%, or 375 fewer hospitalizations) and remained stable among adults.

Seasonal illnesses remained stable or declined among both children and adults. Notable trends included a slight increase in visits for insect bites among children under 2 years of age (+15%, or +19 visits) and for conjunctivitis among people aged 75 and older (+12%, or +8 visits).

Non-specific indicators are all stable or declining among both children and adults.

Among the most common conditions, there was a slight increase in visits for gastrointestinal symptoms in children under 2 years of age, for chest pain and heart failure in adults aged 15–74 and 75 and older, respectively, as well as for abdominal pain and dyspnea/respiratory failure in adults aged 75 and older.

During week 29, there was an increase in visits for measles among children, with 16 visits recorded compared to 9 in week 28.
