Key Points

  • In Week 26 (June 24–30, 2024), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following such visits remained stable across all age groups.

  • Respiratory indicators are stable among children. Among adults, there was an increase in visits for asthma attacks among those aged 15–74 (+13%, or +204 visits), and among those aged 75 and older, an increase in visits for suspected COVID-19 infection (+19%, or +147 visits) and for pneumonia (+5%, or +109 visits).

  • Among other indicators:

    • Among children, there was an increase in visits for urinary tract infections among those under 2 years old (+16%, or +50 visits). Among those under 15 years old, there was an increase in visits for isolated fever (+11%, or +469 visits). Among children aged 2–14, there was an increase in visits for allergies (+12%, or +80 visits), for skin and subcutaneous infections (+6%, or +51 visits), and for viral meningitis (+25%, or +10 visits).

    • Among adults aged 15 and older, there was an increase in visits for dehydration (+21%, or +51 visits), allergies (+12%, or +230 visits), and chickenpox (+21%, or +13 visits). Among those aged 15–74, there was an increase in visits for conjunctivitis (+6%, or +40 visits), for ENT conditions (+5%, or +184 visits), for skin and subcutaneous infections (+5%, or +236 visits), and for ENT infections (+5%, or +184 visits).

    • Among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in visits for general malaise (+5%, or +217 visits).
