Summary

In Week 28 (July 9–15), emergency department visits decreased by 9.5% among children (a decrease of 8,650 visits) and remained stable among adults. Hospitalizations following emergency department visits also decreased across all age groups (a 4% decrease overall, or 3,008 fewer hospitalizations).

Among seasonal conditions, there was an increase in visits for conjunctivitis among 2- to 14-year-olds (+25%, or 76 more visits) and 15- to 74-year-olds (+13%, or 95 more visits), as well as for burns among children under 15 (+14%, or 63 more visits). There was also a slight increase in visits by people aged 75 and older for insect bites (+19%, or +19 visits) and allergies (+33%, or +46 visits). Visits for hyperthermia/heatstroke decreased across all age groups over the past week (-17%, or -70 visits).

Non-specific indicators are all stable or declining across all age groups.

The majority of the most common conditions are stable or declining across all age groups. However, there was a slight increase in visits for vomiting among children under 2 years old (+7%, or +26 visits) and for urinary tract infections among adults (+7%, or +320 visits).
