Key Points

  • In Week 28 (July 8–14, 2024), emergency room visits and hospitalizations following emergency room visits decreased among children aged 2–14 (by 9% and 6%, respectively, representing 5,347 fewer visits and 278 fewer hospitalizations following visits) and remained stable in other age groups.

  • Most of the most common conditions and seasonal indicators remain stable, and the increases observed are among small numbers of cases.

  • Notable increases include visits across all age groups for hyperthermia/heatstroke (+125%, or +84 visits), insect bites (+26%, or +167 visits), and allergies among children under 2 and adults (respectively +12% and +6%, or +202 and +122 visits).

  • Whooping cough continues to rise among children under 2 years of age and those aged 2–14 (4 and 14 visits, respectively) and is declining among adults following a sharp increase the previous week (33 fewer visits vs. 38 more visits in Week 27). The observed figures are significantly higher than in previous years.

  • Visits for suspected COVID-19 are down sharply among 2- to 14-year-olds (-32%), up slightly among those aged 75 and older (+10%), and stable in other age groups.

  • Among adults, there was also an increase in visits for asthma attacks (+8%, or +107 visits), and among those aged 75 and older for ENT conditions (+25%, or +36 visits), urinary tract infections (+9%, or +125 visits), and general malaise (+6%, or +249 visits).
