In Week 07 (February 21–27, 2022), emergency department visits decreased among 2- to 14-year-olds (-8%, or 4,578 fewer visits) and remained stable in other age groups. Hospitalizations following emergency department visits decreased slightly among children (-4%, or 361 fewer hospitalizations) and remained stable among adults.

Visits due to suspected COVID-19 across all age groups continued to decline for the fourth consecutive week (5,966 vs. 8,502 visits, a decrease of 30% in Week 7 vs. 30% in Week 7). The proportion of cases is also declining (2% vs. 3% in Week 6), while the proportion of hospitalizations following visits continues to rise (48% vs. 44% in Week 6). This decline is observed across all age groups. Among adults, COVID-19 remains the 7th most common condition in emergency departments. At the regional level, visits are down in all regions. Since monitoring began on February 24, 2020, 722,113 emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 have been recorded.

Other indicators are stable or declining among children. Among adults, they are mostly stable except for rare increases in ENT conditions (+7%, or +165 visits), influenza/flu-like illness (+12%, or +66 visits), gastroenteritis (+11%, or +129 visits), and conjunctivitis (+23%, or +98 visits), all of which remain at moderate levels.
