Summary
In Week 51 (December 17–23), clinic visits and hospitalizations following clinic visits increased by 7% among children under 2 years of age (representing 2,368 more visits and 352 more hospitalizations). Among adults, clinic visits increased by 4% (representing 11,454 more visits)
Over the past week, there has been an increase in seasonal respiratory illnesses: - marked for influenza, flu-like illness (+71%, or 598 visits), acute bronchitis (+23%, or 530 visits), and ENT conditions (+12%, or 2,091 visits) across all age groups, - moderate for pneumonia among those aged 2–14 (+8%) and those over 75 (+8%). Also notable is the increase in visits for: - gastroenteritis (+17%), vomiting (+18%), isolated fever (+19%), across all age groups, - infectious conjunctivitis (+17%) among children under 2 and those over 15, - malaise (+7%) and allergies (+12%) among those aged 15–74. With the exception of bronchiolitis, the share of these conditions in total activity remains similar to the previous two years.
Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in visits for chest pain (+6%) and skin infections (+8%) among those aged 15–74, and for dyspnea/respiratory failure (+11%) and urinary tract infections (+17%) among those over 75.
