Summary

In week 50 (December 9–15), total emergency department activity and hospitalizations following visits increased moderately across all age groups (up 3%, or 10,802 visits, and up 3%, or 2,303 hospitalizations, respectively).
 Over the past week, increases were observed for:

• respiratory conditions, ranging from +9% for pneumonia (i.e., +336 visits) to +23% for influenza and flu-like illness (i.e., +330 visits) across all age groups;

• gastroenteritis (+18%, or 353 visits) and vomiting (+15%, or 340 visits) across all age groups;

• isolated fever in children under 15 (+8%, or 236 visits), and malaise in children under 15 (+20%, or 119 visits) and in those aged 15–74 (+6%, or 351 visits).

Regarding bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age, an increase of +8% (equivalent to +332 cases) was observed. With Corsica entering week 50, all metropolitan regions are now in the epidemic phase. The epidemic peak was passed in Île-de-France two weeks ago.

Among the most common conditions, notable increases include abdominal pain in children (+9%), chest pain in those aged 15–74 (+9%), dyspnea and respiratory failure (+18%), and abdominal pain (+9%) in those aged 75 and older.
