Summary

In Week 31 (July 30–August 5), emergency room visits and hospitalizations following visits for all causes remained stable for the second consecutive week across all age groups.

The increase in visits for heat-related indicators continues, with:

  • hyperthermia and heatstroke across all age groups (+37%, or +172 visits), as well as hospitalizations following visits for hyperthermia and heatstroke among those aged 75 and older (+193%),

  • dehydration in all age groups (+23%, or +180 visits),

  • isolated fever among those over 75 (+9%, or +42 visits),

  • malaise in children under 2 years of age (+13%, or 19 visits) and those over 75 years of age (+7%, or 245 visits).

Among other seasonal conditions, there was an increase in visits for:

  • allergies in all age groups (+7%, or 239 more visits),

  • insect bites among children under 2 years old (+14%) and those over 15 years old (+12%, or 306 more visits),

  • burns among those aged 2–14 (+7%) and those over 15 (+6%, or 69 visits),

  • conjunctivitis (+18%, or 33 more visits) and chickenpox (+18%, or 26 more visits) in children under 2 years old.

Among the most common conditions, visits for skin conditions (+23%) among children under 2, gastroenteritis among children under 15 (+12%), and abdominal pain among children under 2 and adults over 75 (up 12% and 7%, respectively) are on the rise.
