Key Points
In Week 31 (July 29–August 4, 2024), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained stable for both children and adults compared to the previous week.
Among seasonal indicators, the following are noted:
a further increase in visits for hyperthermia/heatstroke across all age groups (+111.2%, or +209 visits) and visits for allergies across all age groups (+7.8%, or +220 visits), with figures comparable to those of the previous three years.
an increase in visits for insect bites among adults (+15.1%, or +157 visits).
a decrease in visits for chickenpox among children under 15 years of age (-12.1%, or -49 visits).
Visits for whooping cough continued to rise in week 31 among children under 15 (+12.0%, or +26 visits). In contrast, they decreased among adults (-19.1%, or -18 visits). These figures remain at levels significantly higher than in previous years.
Other respiratory indicators are down, notably visits for suspected COVID-19 (-6.5%, or -115 visits across all age groups).
Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits for general malaise (+5.9%, or +692 visits across all age groups), visits for dehydration among adults (+48.3%, or +161 visits), for asthma attacks among adults (+13.9%, or +146 visits), and for vomiting among children under 15 (+13.3%, or +143 visits).
