Key Points

In Week 31 (July 28–August 3, 2025), the number of emergency department visits was down compared to the previous week among children (-5%, or 3,410 fewer visits), as was the number of hospitalizations following a visit (-7%, or 509 fewer hospitalizations). Among adults, these indicators remained stable.

Most non-specific and seasonal indicators were stable or decreased compared to the previous week. However, among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in the number of visits for:

  • Gastroenteritis (+15%, or +42 visits);

  • Vomiting (+14%, or +45 visits);

  • Fever alone (+14%, or +52 visits);

  • ENT conditions (+13%, or +22 visits).

There was also an increase in the number of emergency department visits for COVID-19 among children under 2 years of age (+47%, or +49 visits) and among those aged 15–74 (+12%, or +36 visits), as well as for conjunctivitis among children aged 2–14 (+20%, or +34 visits) and among those aged 15–74 (+5%, or +23 visits).
