In week 34 (August 19–25, 2019), total emergency department activity and hospitalizations following visits remained stable for both children and adults. Over the past week, most non-specific and seasonal indicators were stable or declining across all age groups. There was only a slight increase in visits due to malaise among children (+8%, or +36 visits) and those aged 15–74 (+7%, or +403 visits), and for isolated fever among adults (+5%, or +69 visits). The most common conditions are also stable or declining among children and adults aged 15–74, with the exception of visits for urinary tract infections among children under 2 years of age (+31%). Among people aged 75 and older, these conditions are mostly showing a slight increase. Notable increases include abdominal pain (+9%), stroke (+7%), and heart failure (+6%).
